WICHITA
FALLS, Texas -- Sales may be down nationwide for RVs, but one local business
has no trouble finding customers to rent them.
Dave Zentgraf, owner of D&D Enterprises, rents out motor
homes, travel trailers, and camper pop-up's. He says
the company's rental fleet is booked solid for the next two weeks. In
fact, his lot may soon be empty of all its RV’s and trailers
"I'm fully booked for Fourth of July, and have been for weeks,
months,” said Zentgraf. And he's already booked for
this year's Hotter ‘N Hell in August.
Zentgraf says he hasn't fallen victim to penny
pinching consumers. Instead he says the high cost of gas is actually drawing in
customers because people don't want to fly and some want to save on motel money
to pay for the gas.
"More and more people are renting because they don't want payments or have
to pay the insurance or have it sit all year,” says Zentgraf.
And he says business isn't just booming in the summer. The wheels keep turning
all year long.
"They'll rent maybe twice or three times a year. I have repeat customers
even in the fall people go winter camping so it's a year round business it's
not just the summertime,” says Zentgraf.
KFDX staff also spoke with the owner of Wichita Falls RV Center who also
says RV sales are running steady, and he's seeing more people traveling closer
to home.
