How To Calculate the Cost of Renting a Motor Home

To calculate the number of nights you are renting for, count the first day and last day of your rental as one day and every other day in between as full days.

• On the day of your departure you pick up your rental vehicle after 2 pm (so that day is 1/2 a day) and the day of your return your check-in time is before 11 am. (so this day is also 1/2 day)
• Calculate how many miles you are going and subtract the free miles per day (if any) for your trip and times this by the rate per mile.
• Add the prep fee of $ 125.00 for Class "C", Travel Trailer, or $150.00 for Class A non diesel or $200.00 for Class A diesel
• add the sales tax $ 8.25

Example:

Going for a week leaving on Friday returning the next Friday:

Pick up time is between 2:00pm - 4:00pm on the day of departure. Family RV has between these times to perform a complete check out of the RV. The check out and check in process can take up to 1 ½ hours each - please allow yourself enough time.

Return time is between 8:30 am - 11:00 am on the day of return.

7 Days @ 100.00 per day = $ 700.00

Let's say you will be going 1000 miles and Family RV is giving you 100 miles free per day and the mileage charge is $.29 per mile after free miles.

1000 miles less 700 free = 300 miles @.29 = $ 87.00

One time charges:

Preparation fee $ 125.00/$150.00/$200.00 (includes chemicals for toilet, sanitation, propane, dumping of tanks on return and complete check out and in / with complete instruction on how to use the vehicle.

Sales tax on prep fee only $ 8.25(this is because these rental motor homes are all privately owned and rates are not taxable)
